First, New York-based social games company Area/Code, co-founded by Frank Lantz and Kevin Slavin in 2005, has been acquired by Zynga; the company now becomes Zynga New York. With Zynga's vast advances in the social gaming field courtesy Farmville, Mafia Wars and other games that literally exploded on Facebook over the last couple of years, it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise, I suppose! 

Second, Facebook has received $1.5 billion in funding from, of all people, Goldman Sachs, as well as Digital Sky Technologies. 

And again, something of a surprise to me at least, Ashton Kutcher has invested $200,000 in search engine Blekko; but I'm not sure if, as TechCrunch says, some of Kutcher's sheen will rub off on the service.

There's certainly something bubbling in the mobile space, if the acquisition of  Uber Twitter, creator of  Twitter clients for mobiles, by Uber Media is anything to go by (as an aside, the company also acquired social news site Mixx), as well as the fact that appMobi, mobile development vendor closed a round of  $6 million in funding in an all-angel series B round.

All this has happened in the space of literally a few days - who's going to guess what the next surprise in the tech world is going to be? Demi Moore to invest in Wolfram Alpha perhaps?!
